The International Council on Human Rights Policy (ICHRP) seeks an Executive Director

The ICHRP, based in Geneva, provides a forum for applied research, reflection, and forward thinking on matters of international human rights policy. As an agenda-setting think-tank, the ICHRP’s primary vision is to provide support to those working to promote human rights, whether in government, inter-governmental or non-governmental bodies. The ICHRP provides independent, practical and innovative inter-disciplinary research and seeks to provide intellectual leadership and inspiration to the wider human rights policy community.

The Executive Director is the chief executive responsible for helping the ICHRP move forward this important agenda. The Director leads a small staff team and is answerable to an international Board and the wider International Council, for overseeing a creative and imaginative research programme. In particular, the Director will help identify ground-breaking issues, ensure a participative approach to the research, and assist in the effective translation of the research into policy options.

The Director is responsible for developing the global profile of the ICHRP as a centre of excellence, building upon and developing further the work carried out in its first decade. The Director will have responsibility for overseeing the small staff team, reporting regularly to the Board, and ensuring the financial stability of the organisation so that it can meet its organisational objectives. The Director will be the primary spokesperson for the organisation with donors and the media, and will be responsible for building up a strong network of interlocutors in the human rights policy arena.

The ideal candidate will be well connected and experienced in international human rights, have a strong background in research, be an effective manager, be an experienced strategic thinker, and have excellent interpersonal, intercultural communication and presentational skills. The working language of the ICHRP is English but additional language skills would be an advantage.
