Focus consultation with IADB and OECD-DAC 07 July 2008
On 3rd July, Research Director, Magdalena Sepúlveda and Lead Writer, Christian Gruenberg, met in Paris with several experts on corruption and human rights, among others, with Fernando Carrillo Flores, principal adviser in the Inter-American Development Bank Special Office in Europe. They also visited the Organisation for Economic, Co-Operation and Development (OECD) where they participated in a workshop discussion organised in collaboration with Sebastian Bartsch and Virginia Tortella, Administrators of Policy Coordination Division, Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD-DAC).
The consultation focused on the text of the second draft Integrating Human Rights into the anti-corruption agenda: Challenges, possibilities and opportunities. This draft examines issues of implementation. It discusses where the use of a human rights framework can strengthen anti-corruption programmes at national and local level, and what obstacles and conflicts may inhibit effective cooperation. The report seeks to be a practical tool that public officials and practitioners can use. The second draft will soon be open to consultation to more experts.
