Corruption: consultations with Transparency International 09 July 2008
As part of the consultation process of the research project on corruption and human rights, research director Magdalena Sepúlveda and Lead Writer Christian Gruenberg visited Transparency International’s (TI) Secretariat in Berlin. On 26th June, Christian Gruenberg participated in a roundtable meeting on human rights and corruption, which brought together representatives of Amnesty International’s Secretariat, Human Rights Watch Germany, Reporters without Borders and members of various national chapters of TI. This meeting was organized to feed into discussions as TI is preparing a working paper on Human Rights and Corruption.
On 30th June, Magdalena had a follow up meeting with several representatives within TI Secretariat, as well as with members of TI International Board. Discussions were held with Robin Hodess, Director of Policy and Research; Craig Fagan, Policy Coordinator; Geo Sung Kim, Chairperson of the Korea Chapter of TI; John Devitt, Devendra Panday and Sion Assidon, members of the International Board; Angela Keller-Herzog, Manager of Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres; Gilian Dell, Manager of International Conventions; Kulan Amin, Program Officer of the Poverty Programme; and Paul Zoubnok, Program Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia. At the end of the day, Magdalena also met with the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) Manager, Roberto Perez Rocha, to discuss the workshop that ICHRP will be organising together with UNDP at the 13th IACC in Athens.
