11th Council Meeting in Kampala, Uganda 13 May 2008
The International Council held its 11th Council Meeting in Kampala, Uganda, from 9-11 May. Ugandan Council Member Dr Sylvia Tamale, of Makerere University, hosted the event. Council members and international and regional guests discussed current and emerging human rights issues, including corruption, civil conflict, and questions related to sexuality.
This was the first Council meeting in Sub-Saharan Africa. A session also enabled participants to interact with Ugandan civil society activists who shared their insights about their country’s situation.
