HRC passes resolution on climate change and human rights, and OHCHR publishes analytical study 01 April 2009
On 25 March, 2009, the Human Rights Council (HRC) passed a new resolution on climate change and human rights deciding to hold a panel discussion at its eleventh session in order to contribute to the realisation of the goals set out in the Bali Action Plan and to invite all relevant stakeholders to participate. On 24 March, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) published an analytical study on climate change and human rights pursuant to Council Resolution 7/23.
The study is the result of a consultative process that included ICHRP among others. As part of this process, Research Director Stephen Humphreys participated in OHCHR panels on 22 October, 2008, and on March 10, 2009. The OHCHR study cites the ICHRP’s report, Climate Change and Human Rights: A Rough Guide.
