ICHRP and UNDP : Cooperation on Anti-Corruption 27 April 2009
While preparing its recently released report, Corruption and Human Rights: Making the Connection, the International Council consulted extensively with the United Nations Development Programme Anti-Corruption Democratic Governance Group. Together with the UNDP, the International Council convened a workshop at the 13th Annual International Anti-Corruption Conference held in Greece in November 2008, and the UNDP has provided invaluable contributions and assistance to the International Council’s work on the issue of corruption and human rights.
The work of the UNDP on anti-corruption and democratic governance is canvassed in their 2008 annual report, Mainstreaming Anti-Corruption in Development, which highlights the major achievements of UNDP on this important issue. Another UNDP publication, published in December 2008, draws on existing research, case studies and internal consultations to establish linkages between corruption and development. The publication, entitled Corruption and Development: Anti-Corruption Interventions for Poverty Reduction, Realisation of the MDGs and Promoting Sustainable Development is available here.
