National Human Rights Institutions tackle poverty reduction 16 April 2008

Research Director Magdalena Sepúlveda made a presentation on the impact of corruption on poverty reduction strategies at a parallel event to the Annual Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) on 16 April 2008 at the United Nations in Geneva. Representatives of the National Human Rights Commission of India, the Ugandan Human Rights Commission and the Office of the Ombusdman of Guatemala also shared their experience on the role of NHRIs in poverty reduction, as well as representatives of the United Nations Development Programme office in Geneva and the Centre for Economic and Social Rights . Magdalena’s presentation draws conclusions from the ICHRP project that explores the links between human rights and corruption.
